This Fall, Katonah's Calendar Runs Through Its Parking Lots

Westchester County's main event for the nation's 250th anniversary comes to Ward Pound Ridge Reservation on October 24 and 25. The reservation will have no parking for it. Visitors park off-site and ride free shuttles, and two of the four lots are in Katonah: Katonah Train Station Lot 3 at 50 Woods Bridge Road and Caramoor's Lot Z at 149 Girdle Ridge Road.

That Saturday is already a full one downtown. The John Jay Homestead Farm Market fills Lot 2 at 190 Katonah Avenue that morning. In the afternoon the Katonah Chamber of Commerce holds its last Art Walk of the year along Katonah Avenue. This fall, a lot of the hamlet's calendar starts in the lots around Katonah Avenue and the train station, even when the event itself is somewhere else.

How the Lots Took On the Calendar

Two decisions made elsewhere set this up. The first came from the John Jay Homestead. The Homestead is being restored, so the 16th season of its Farm Market is being held in downtown Katonah again. It runs every Saturday, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and this year the season was extended through November 21. Shoppers park in Lot 2 or along Katonah Avenue, and the market's signs route cars out past Katonah Art and Frame Shop.

The second came from the county. REV FEST 2025 was held at Croton Point Park in Croton-on-Hudson on September 27 and 28. For 2026 it moved to Ward Pound Ridge, a site that offers no parking for an event this size. The county's plan has visitors park at Bedford Hills Train Station Lot 4 on Railroad Avenue, Caramoor's Lot Z, Katonah Train Station Lot 3 and Lewisboro Town Park on Route 35 in South Salem. Free shuttles run from each lot. Shuttles from Katonah Lot 3 and Bedford Hills Lot 4 are ADA accessible.

The festival is big. The county lists 500 volunteer living history exhibitors, Continental and British Army camps, and more than two miles of programming across the reservation. Each day's main event is a reenactment of the Battle of White Plains, scheduled for 3 to 4 p.m. Admission is free.

October 24, Hour by Hour

Laid out on one timeline, the day splits into a morning window and a late-afternoon window. The festival's timetable runs across both of them.

  • 9:00 a.m. Market members get first pick until 9:30. The REV FEST off-site lots open and shuttles start running.
  • 9:30 a.m. The market opens to everyone. Ward Pound Ridge opens to festival visitors.
  • 10:00 a.m. Festival programming begins. Carla & Keyes, a Yorktown Heights duo, play the entrance until noon. Storyteller Jonathan Kruk performs "The Ghosts of Sleepy Hollow and Revolutionary Tales of Westchester" until 10:40.
  • 2:00 p.m. The farm market closes.
  • 2:45 p.m. Stage performances and camp visits end at the reservation.
  • 3:00 p.m. The Battle of White Plains reenactment starts at Ward Pound Ridge. At the same hour, the Art Walk begins on Katonah Avenue.
  • 4:00 p.m. The reenactment ends.
  • 4:50 p.m. The last shuttle leaves for the Katonah Metro-North station.
  • 5:00 p.m. The last shuttle leaves for the other off-site lots.
  • 7:00 p.m. The Art Walk ends.

The only real overlap is the reenactment. It runs from 3 to 4 p.m., the first hour of the Art Walk. The last shuttle to the Katonah station leaves the reservation at 4:50 p.m., and the Art Walk goes until 7, so staying for the battle doesn't mean missing the whole Art Walk.

The market has no overlap at all. It closes at 2 p.m., an hour before the Art Walk starts. On paper, one person could shop the market when it opens, ride a shuttle out to the encampments and be back on Katonah Avenue for the gazebo music.

The county's FAQ does not include a traffic forecast or road-closure guidance. The Recorder's October 2 events calendar lists the festival and the Art Walk with their hours but says nothing about traffic. No one has published crowd figures for this site. The only number from last year's festival is a pre-event forecast of "thousands of attendees from across the tri-state area" at Croton Point Park.

The festival runs the same hours on Sunday, October 25. There's no Saturday market or Art Walk that day, so a Sunday visit to the encampments doesn't overlap with anything downtown.

Why This Art Walk Is the Last One Until Spring

The Katonah Chamber of Commerce scheduled four Art Walks in 2026: April 18, May 16, September 19 and October 24. Each one brings live music in the gazebo, special art events at the galleries and shops on the Chamber's map, and pop-ups along the avenue. There's usually a guest food truck as well.

The fall date moves around from year to year. The Chamber held fall Art Walks on October 22, 2022, October 21, 2023, October 19, 2024 and September 20, 2025. In 2026 there are two fall dates, and the second falls on the county's festival weekend. The Chamber hasn't yet published which galleries, shops, musicians or food truck will take part on October 24. Check the Chamber's map closer to the date.

After the 24th, the Calendar Stays Close to Downtown

Many of the rest of the fall's events are on Katonah Avenue, Bedford Road and Jay Street. The market keeps Lot 2 busy every Saturday morning until November 21.

Nov. 21 Final Saturday of the farm market, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lot 2, 190 Katonah Avenue

Two dates here matter for the downtown story. The Katonah Museum of Art reopens its galleries on October 18 with "Intermittent Islands: Four Caribbean Women Artists," less than a week before the Art Walk. Anyone walking Katonah Avenue on the 24th can add a stop at the museum on Jay Street.

The second is the Westchester Book Festival on November 7, now in its second year. It fills two buildings across Bedford Road from each other: Katonah Village Library at No. 26 and Katonah Presbyterian Church at No. 31. Authors include Malcolm Gladwell, Priya Parker, Anand Giridharadas and Elizabeth Kolbert. Tickets are $25 per session. Festival chairman John Glusman told The Recorder in August that the first festival exceeded expectations, and that this year's adds more authors, venues and literary sessions. November 7 is a Saturday, so the market will also be running in Lot 2 that morning.

Muscoot's listings for its Sunday farmers market give two different end dates. One says the market runs every Sunday until November 16. A separate listing calls November 22 the last market of the year. Check with the farm before planning around either date.

What the County Is Still Filling In

The official REV FEST page says the schedule will be updated as more performances and programming are announced. The hour-by-hour plan above follows the published framework of shuttle times, the reenactment and closing. The individual acts may change. For anyone driving in, the county's FAQ lists directions to each off-site lot, and Lot 3 on Woods Bridge Road is the one with ADA-accessible shuttle service from Katonah.
